From materials and height to bespoke designs and sun shading: answers to eight practical questions.
Your garden is a place to unwind, spend time together and enjoy outdoor living. When choosing a new fence or pergola, you naturally want everything to be right: appearance, quality, privacy and ease of maintenance.
Before requesting a quotation, you probably have a few practical questions. What material is used? Which weaving pattern best suits your garden? Can the fence be made entirely to measure?
We answer the eight questions we hear most often about our low-maintenance woven designer fences, garden gates and pergolas.
Our fences are woven from high-quality polyethylene synthetic branches. They are UV-resistant and withstand temperatures from -30 °C to +80 °C. They do not absorb moisture or rot, and need no painting, staining or trimming.
Depending on the model, the branches are combined with a steel frame, a synthetic Ecowood frame, aluminium posts or Okan hardwood posts. This combines the natural appearance of traditional weaving with the durability and easy care of modern materials.
The synthetic branches are also easy to clean with water, keeping your fence looking neat without annual treatment.
Each weaving technique has its own appearance.
The best option depends on your preferred style and how much overlooking you want to reduce. During a showroom visit or consultation, we will help you choose the right combination.
In many gardens, a 180 or 200 cm fence provides the desired privacy. The ideal height depends on the garden’s location, differences in level, distance to neighbours and what you want to screen.
Our panels come in several standard heights, including 120, 150, 180 and 200 cm. We also offer bespoke options for particular situations. Fencing woven on site can even be made up to 240 cm high.
We always consider the whole garden so the fence provides enough privacy without appearing too heavy or dominant.
Your fence should complement your house, terrace and planting. Our synthetic branches are therefore available in different UV colours and wood-fibre finishes, from warm wood tones to dark contemporary shades.
The frame, posts and any garden gate can also be coordinated. All components form a harmonious whole, giving your garden a calm, well-finished appearance.
At our showroom, you can compare colours and weaving patterns side by side, making it much easier to judge which combination suits your home.
Our synthetic weaving is developed for long-term outdoor use. It resists UV radiation, moisture, frost and high temperatures. Because the material does not rot or need painting or treatment, the fence maintains a neat appearance for years.
Its actual lifespan depends on factors including installation, exposure to weather and the chosen specification. Proper foundations and professional installation are therefore just as important as the quality of the panel itself.
Yes. Forest Avenue can supply your fencing and also provide complete professional installation.
Our installation team fits the posts, any concrete gravel boards and fence panels securely, straight and with care. Would you also like a matching designer gate? We include it in the same design and coordinate its colour and weaving with the rest of the fence.
This gives you one point of contact for the entire project and a carefully finished result.
Certainly. No two gardens are exactly alike, so we offer bespoke solutions alongside our standard panels.
We can accommodate unusual dimensions, changes in level, corners, existing walls and connections to a house or gate. For a calm, continuous result, the fence can also be woven directly on site.
The result is designer fencing that looks beautiful and is technically suited to your plot.
A pergola with woven sun shading creates pleasant shade without completely cutting your terrace off from daylight. Single weaving filters sunlight while creating a warm, natural atmosphere.
On sunny days, this makes the space under the pergola more comfortable while preserving the terrace’s open character. The same colours and materials can appear in the fence and gate, tying all the elements together visually.
A pergola is therefore both a practical form of sun shading and a stylish architectural feature in your garden.
Choosing the right fence is about more than privacy. Appearance, height, weaving technique, colour and installation method all shape the result.

Four things help us give focused advice: garden photos, the estimated length, desired height and areas where you want to reduce overlooking. Mention changes in level, an existing hedge and access to the back garden too. If you want a gate, explain what needs to pass through it.
Depending on the design, a 200 cm height may combine a panel and a concrete gravel board. Have the total height and individual components clearly specified. Our buying guide helps you organise your requirements; send them through the price request.
For a pergola, the terrace’s orientation is useful too. Woven sun shading filters light but does not itself form a waterproof roof. Explore our pergolas.
